Crashes on 71 and 60 freeways snarl traffic near Pomona

A motorcyclist was killed on the eastbound 60 Freeway near Diamond Bar Boulevard offramp around 5:30 a.m., when a witness reported to the California Highway Patrol that the rider had struck a curb, according to California Highway Patrol reports.

The fatal crash took place about an hour after an asphalt truck overturned, dumping its load onto the southbound lanes of the 71 Freeway near Old Pomona Road. Authorities expect the crash to be cleared up by 11 a.m.

Traffic was backing up for several miles on each freeway due to the incidents, according to CHP reports.

SigAlerts were issued for both freeways.
